Terms of Service

These terms are pending a final review by counsel. They are written in plain language to set honest expectations and they govern your use of GarageIntel today. Some sections (for example the arbitration agreement) may be adjusted once that review is complete; any material change will be posted here with a new date. If a specific term concerns you, email relias@garageintel.app before subscribing.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and GarageIntel (“GarageIntel”, “we”, “us”) covering the GarageIntel website and every feature on it, including the vehicle report, Free Check, Flip Check, the Max Offer tools, Motorcycle Check, Your Garage, the Flip Pipeline, and Dock Intel (each a “Service”). By creating an account, subscribing, or using any Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What GarageIntel is — and is not

GarageIntel generates an informational vehicle or vessel report from a VIN, a HULL identification number, a Coast Guard official number, or a year/make/model search. It combines free public data (for example NHTSA recall and safety data, EPA fuel-economy data, and U.S. Coast Guard documented-vessel records) with licensed third-party data (for example MarketCheck market value, factory-build specifications, and marketplace listing history; NMVTIS title and odometer history as a separate paid add-on; and web-search-derived value estimates).

GarageIntel is not a consumer reporting agency, and a GarageIntel report is not a “consumer report” or an “investigative consumer report” under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.) or any comparable state law. You may not use any Service, or any report or data from it, in whole or in part, as a factor in establishing a consumer’s eligibility for credit or insurance, for employment purposes, for tenant screening, or for any other purpose regulated by the FCRA. GarageIntel does not verify the identity of the person a record concerns and does not offer FCRA dispute procedures.

GarageIntel is also not a licensed dealer, broker, lender, appraiser, inspection service, or law firm, and nothing on the site is legal, financial, tax, or investment advice.

2. Accuracy — no warranty

Vehicle and vessel history, title, salvage, odometer, lien, ownership, and market-value information is sourced from third parties and public records. It can be incomplete, delayed, mis-keyed, or wrong. GarageIntel does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, currency, or fitness for any purpose of any report, score, estimate, or data point. A report is not a substitute for:

an independent pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic or marine surveyor;
a title and lien search through the relevant state DMV, the NMVTIS system, or, for a documented vessel, the U.S. Coast Guard National Vessel Documentation Center (NVDC); and
your own due diligence before buying, selling, lending against, or insuring a vehicle or vessel.

Where the NMVTIS title and odometer add-on is purchased, that data comes from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System; NMVTIS does not contain information on every vehicle, is not updated in real time, and is not a substitute for a state DMV title search or an independent inspection.

Market-value and “wholesale” estimates

Any value figure, range, “Wholesale Read”, max-offer number, Deal Coach output, or margin projection is a statistical estimate derived from model-level and market data. It is not an appraisal of any specific vehicle, not an offer to buy or sell, and not a guarantee of what any vehicle will actually sell or trade for. Condition, options, region, and timing move real prices well outside any estimate.

Vessel documentation and maritime liens

Dock Intel reports are built from the public U.S. Coast Guard documented-vessel file. The “maritime lien” indicator reflects only whether that public file shows a recorded instrument as of its last publication; it can be out of date, and the absence of a flag is not proof that a vessel is free of liens, mortgages, or encumbrances. A documented vessel can carry unrecorded maritime liens that attach by operation of law. Before relying on ownership or lien status for a purchase or a loan, obtain an abstract of title from the NVDC and consult a maritime attorney. A vessel that is state-registered rather than federally documented will not appear in Dock Intel at all.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at relias@garageintel.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
One person or business per account. Don’t share logins or resell access.

4. Membership, usage credit, and billing

Some lookups (market value, listing history, factory-build data, the NMVTIS add-on, the Motorcycle report, the Dock Intel vessel report) require a signed-in account and draw usage credit from your balance. Each lookup’s cost is shown before you run it.
There is no free trial. Usage credit is granted only while a paid membership is active. It resets to the membership’s included amount at the start of each billing period and does not roll over or accumulate. Unused credit has no cash value and is redeemable only for lookups on this site.
Membership is a recurring subscription billed in advance through Stripe at the price shown at checkout, plus any applicable tax, and it renews automatically each period until cancelled.
You can cancel or manage your membership yourself at any time via “Manage billing” in your account menu. Cancellation stops future charges at the end of the current period; it does not retroactively refund the current period or credits already used.
Refunds. Fees are generally non-refundable. If you were charged for a report you did not receive because of a technical fault on our side, email us within 30 days and we will refund that charge. We may also issue a refund at our discretion.
Founding beta. During the founding beta, seats are limited and pricing, included credit, and any promotional credit (for example a period of complimentary membership once the beta fills) are described on the site at the time you subscribe and may change for future members. Beta features may change or be withdrawn.
If a payment fails, is disputed, or is charged back, we may suspend or terminate paid access immediately.

5. Acceptable use

Use the Service for your own personal or internal business vehicle or vessel research only.
Do not scrape, crawl, bulk-download, systematically extract, cache, warehouse, redistribute, sell, or sublicense the reports or the underlying data, or use them to build or train a competing product, dataset, or model.
Do not attempt to bypass or interfere with authentication, rate limits, usage-credit accounting, the paywall, or any security control; do not access the Service by any automated means except a standards-compliant browser; do not probe, scan, or load-test the Service without our written permission.
Do not use the Service for any FCRA-regulated purpose (see section 1), to stalk, harass, or harm any person, or in violation of any law, including data-protection and anti-discrimination law.
Do not misrepresent a GarageIntel report as an official record, a certified title search, an appraisal, or a survey.

We may suspend or terminate access for a violation of this section without notice.

6. Third-party data and services

Report data originates with third parties (including MarketCheck, NMVTIS/AAMVA-participating providers, NHTSA, EPA, the U.S. Coast Guard, and web-search providers) and is subject to those providers’ own terms. Your right to use it is limited to viewing your own reports on this site; you receive no licence to the underlying data. Payment processing is provided by Stripe under Stripe’s terms; authentication and database services are provided by Supabase. We are not responsible for third-party outages, errors, or changes.

7. Intellectual property

The GarageIntel name and logo, the site’s visual design, layout, animation, page structure, copy, report formats, scoring and valuation logic, and the client- and server-side code that produces them are owned by GarageIntel and protected by copyright and other laws. Code is delivered to your browser only so the Service can run for you. You may not copy, republish, scrape, decompile beyond what is required for normal use, or reuse the site’s design, markup, styling, animation, or code — in whole or in part — to build or operate another product or site.

8. Feedback and user submissions

If you submit feedback, a repair-cost figure, a sale-price report, or similar information, you grant GarageIntel a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, aggregate, and display it in de-identified or aggregated form as part of the Service. Don’t submit anything false, unlawful, or that isn’t yours to share.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ALL REPORTS, SCORES, ESTIMATES, AND DATA, IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GARAGEINTEL DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. GARAGEINTEL DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY REPORT IS COMPLETE OR ACCURATE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GARAGEINTEL AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR THE COST OF A SUBSTITUTE SERVICE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. THIS INCLUDES ANY LOSS ARISING FROM A DECISION TO BUY, SELL, LEND AGAINST, INSURE, OR PASS ON A VEHICLE OR VESSEL BASED ON A REPORT, OR FROM INACCURATE, INCOMPLETE, OR MISSING THIRD-PARTY DATA.

GARAGEINTEL’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IN ANY 12-MONTH PERIOD WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID GARAGEINTEL IN THAT PERIOD OR (B) US $100. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO THEY MAY NOT FULLY APPLY TO YOU.

11. Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GarageIntel and its owners and operators from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your submissions, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

12. Dispute resolution — arbitration and class-action waiver

Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes are resolved.

Except for a claim that qualifies for small-claims court and claims for injunctive relief regarding intellectual property, any dispute between you and GarageIntel arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by a recognized arbitration provider under its consumer rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will be conducted in the English language and, unless the parties agree otherwise, on a documents-only or telephonic basis where permitted.

You and GarageIntel each waive any right to a jury trial and any right to bring or participate in a class, collective, or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable, the entire arbitration agreement in this section is void.

You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing relias@garageintel.app with the subject “Arbitration opt-out” within 30 days of first accepting these Terms; opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.

13. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. To the extent a dispute is not subject to arbitration, it must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Rhode Island, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the account menu. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, for a violation of these Terms, a payment problem, a legal requirement, or the discontinuation of the Service. Sections 1, 2, 6–13, and 15 survive termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product develops. Material changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date and, where practical, noted in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
